Show: Oak Harbor Library 5/1-5/30/24

It’s been a LOOOOONG time but I have a wee “show” at the Library in Oak Harbor/North Whidbey. I don’t have many original pieces left in my archives, but I was happy to share what I do still have. This past weekend I pulled them all out and cleaned them off…literal cobwebs, people. I lined them up in my hallway ready to be loaded in the car. And then: my cats.

My. Evil. Cats.

They thought it would be supes fun to remove the artfully glued ephemera that was part of these mixed media pieces. I found shredded paper flowers and have yet to find the ribbon that adorned one of the ladies’ throats. So yesterday I ran all over town trying to find new things to glue on thes older pieces….so some got a nice lil’ refresh. And one even gained a painting of an owl!

So all’s well. And I have to say, I love my paintings at the library! They are so happy to be surrounded by books! It makes sense… I mean, I love books, and in an alternate timeline I totally was a librarian. And my work is truly stories in pictures. Why have I never done this before? Forget galleries, I only ever want to show at libraries from now on. Or bookstores.

Another little special item of note: I have never shown my originals of the Iconas Series, only the prints. This is the first time! So if you want to see Psyche’s real butterfly wings, or how sparkly Hildegard is, or how scary Kali is, pop over to Oak Harbor. They’ll all be there until the 30th.

Big thanks to Kate Matwychuk who somehow found me and invited me to share my work at OH Library!
