It's been a while since I've shown in Seattle - so I'm pretty excited to have my art up at Two Bells Tavern! I have to admit, even though I grew up in Seattle - I never had been there. Or heard about it. Which is kind of embarrassing, because apparently it's been a Seattle institution since the '20's!! And a total art hot spot since the mid '80's! Well now I know, and I am honored that I get to join the long line of artists who have shown their work their over the past 32 years. The art part was started by Patricia McGuiness Ryan and her husband, Rolon Bert Garner (who also was an artist and a former curator with the Seattle Art Museum, co-founder of Art Tech, and a former member of the Washington State Arts Commission). The two of them really seeded the burgeoning art scene in Belltown, as well as making a fabulous burger. Patricia passed away in Clinton WA (hey. Where my art studio is. Weird) in 2001, and the Two Bells is now owned by Jeff and Tina Lee.
So come on by opening night, Friday May 13th, 6PM! I'll be there, sitting next to the big mirror, eating a burger and drinking some beer, so I'd love to see you!
The official postcard....email me with your mailing address if you'd like one!!! firstname.lastname@example.org
Curator Wyly Astley has the art out to hang! I didn't have to hang it myself, yipee!
